Symptoms
When you edit a Word document that causes Word to repaginate the document, Word may never complete the repagination. Also, Word may appear to stop responding (hang). If you press ESC to stop the repagination, you receive the following informational message:
Word must complete pagination before displaying the selected text in Print Layout View. Do you wish to continue pagination? To display the text in Normal view, select No. If you click No, the repagination process stops, and then Word switches to Normal view. However, if you switch back to Print Layout view, the repagination process continues endlessly. This symptom may occur if all the following conditions are true:

The document contains nested tables.

The nested tables are formatted with wrapping text.

The document contains more than 10 pages.

You view the document in Print Layout view.
Additionally, this symptom may occur if all the following conditions are true:

The document contains nested tables in the header or in the footer.
-
The nested tables in the header or in the footer are formatted with wrapping text.
-
The document contains a NUMPAGES field in the header or in the footer.
-
Track Changes is turned on.
-
The document contains more than 10 pages.
-
You view the document in Print Layout view.
Workaround
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Remove the nested table text wrapping formatting

Click the nested table that is formatted with the text wrapping.

On the Table menu, click Table Properties.

On the Table tab, click
None under Text wrapping. -
Click OK.
Method 2: Remove the nested table from the document

Delete the nested table. To do this, click the nested table, point to Delete on the Table menu, and then click Table.
Method 3: Remove the NUMPAGES field in the header or footer

On the View menu, click Header and Footer.

Click the NUMPAGES field in the header or footer, and then press DELETE.
Note To view the NUMPAGES field, press ALT+F9.
Method 4: Turn off Track Changes
To turn off Track Changes, click Track Changes on the Tools menu.
