This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics NAV for the following countries and language locales.

  • English (Canada) (en-ca)

  • English (United States) (en-us)

  • Spanish (Mexico) (es-mx)

  • French (Canada) (fr-ca)

Symptoms

According to IRS Publication 1220, the magnetic media format is changed in 2010.

Notes

  • Page 3 in Section 2, 01.b.3 states the following:

    Payer "A" Record, expanded Type of Return field from a one position to a two position field. Previously the field position was 27, now it is field positions 26-27.

  • Page 34 states the following:

    And the code needs to be left justified.

However, in the current Vendor 1099 Magnetic Media report in the North American version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, there is only position 27 for the Return field in the "A Record" section (2). Therefore, the Vendor 1099 Magnetic Media report is required to be updated to use position 26 and position 27 for the Return field in the "A Record" section.

Code changes

Note Always test code fixes in a controlled environment before you apply the fixes to your production computers.
To update the magnetic media format, change the code in the Vendor 1099 Magnetic Media report (10115). To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Change the code in the Data Item Number 2 - A Record as follows:
    Existing code 1

    ...
    BEGIN {MISC}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'MISC-','MISC-99');
    EndLine := LastMISCNo;

    // Delete the following line.
    ReturnType := 'A';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    ...

    Replacement code 1

    ...
    BEGIN {MISC}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'MISC-','MISC-99');
    EndLine := LastMISCNo;

    // Add the following line.
    ReturnType := 'A ';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    ...

    Existing code 2

    ...
    BEGIN {DIV}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'DIV-','DIV-99');
    EndLine := LastDIVNo;

    // Delete the following line.
    ReturnType := '1';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    ...

    Replacement code 2

    ...
    BEGIN {DIV}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'DIV-','DIV-99');
    EndLine := LastDIVNo;

    // Add the following line.
    ReturnType := '1 ';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    ...

    Existing code 3

    ...
    BEGIN {INT}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'INT-','INT-99');
    EndLine := LastINTNo;

    // Delete the following line.
    ReturnType := '6';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    END;
    PaymentEntry.RESET;
    ...

    Replacement code 3

    ...
    BEGIN {INT}
    InvoiceEntry.SETRANGE("1099 Code",'INT-','INT-99');
    EndLine := LastINTNo;

    // Add the following line.
    ReturnType := '6 ';
    // End of the line.

    END;
    END;
    PaymentEntry.RESET;
    ...
  2. Change the code of global variables as follows:
    Existing code

    ...
    PeriodDate@1004 : ARRAY [2] OF Date;
    Year@1005 : Integer;
    DirectSales@1006 : Text[1];

    // Change the following variable.
    ReturnType@1007 : Text[1];
    // End of the line.

    CodeNos@1008 : Text[12];
    WriteThis@1010 : Boolean;
    AnyRecs@1011 : ARRAY [3] OF Boolean;
    ...

    Replacement code

    ...
    PeriodDate@1004 : ARRAY [2] OF Date;
    Year@1005 : Integer;
    DirectSales@1006 : Text[1];

    // The following variable is changed.
    ReturnType@1007 : Text[2];
    // End of the line.

    CodeNos@1008 : Text[12];
    WriteThis@1010 : Boolean;
    AnyRecs@1011 : ARRAY [3] OF Boolean;
    ...
  3. Change the code in the WriteARec function as follows:
    Existing code

    ...
    STRSUBSTNO('#1#######',MagMediaManagement.StripNonNumerics(CompanyInfo."Federal ID No.")) + // TIN
    STRSUBSTNO('#1##',' ') + // Payer Name Control
    STRSUBSTNO(' ') +

    // Delete the following line.
    STRSUBSTNO(' ') +
    // End of the line.

    STRSUBSTNO(ReturnType) +
    STRSUBSTNO('#1############',CodeNos) + // Amount Codes 14
    STRSUBSTNO(' ') + // 9 blanks
    ...

    Replacement code

    ...
    STRSUBSTNO('#1#######',MagMediaManagement.StripNonNumerics(CompanyInfo."Federal ID No.")) + // TIN
    STRSUBSTNO('#1##',' ') + // Payer Name Control
    STRSUBSTNO(' ') +
    STRSUBSTNO(ReturnType) +
    STRSUBSTNO('#1############',CodeNos) + // Amount Codes 14
    STRSUBSTNO(' ') + // 9 blanks
    ...
