When setting up a new Windows PC, you can easily transfer data from your old PC, including your folders and settings. This process can be done during the Out-of-box experience (OOBE) setup, which simplifies the transition and ensures all your essential files and preferences are carried over seamlessly. This way, you can start using your new computer without having to manually configure everything from scratch.

Notes:

  • To learn more about screen readers, go to How screen readers work with Microsoft 365.

  • This experience is currently available only for Microsoft accounts that do not have an existing backup. If your account has a backup, you can restore it using the Windows restore experience.

  • Your new PC must be running Windows 11, version 2024 or later to use this transfer feature.

  • If you do not hear the option to transfer information on your old PC, go to Windows Update and install the latest updates.
