If your USB device only has a problem when Windows wakes from sleep, there are a few power-related steps we can try to fix the problem.

First, try disabling Fast Startup.  To do this:

  • Make sure you're signed into an administrator account.

  • In the Search box, type Control Panel and select Control Panel in the search results.

  • Select Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

  • Select Choose what the power button does.

  • Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.

  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).

  • Select Save changes.

  • Select Start > Power > Sleep.  Once Windows has gone to sleep, wake Windows and check if the problem with your USB device is resolved.

  • If this step did not resolve the issue, please undo the changes and re-enable Fast Startup.
