If you turn on Storage Sense, Windows will automatically free up space by getting rid of files you don't need, like temporary files and items in the Recycle Bin, when you're low on disk space or at intervals you specify.
To turn on Storage Sense:
-
Select Start > Settings > System > Storage > Configure Storage Sense or run it now.
-
Toggle the switch for Storage Sense to On.
-
Configure the settings as desired to specify how often it will run and what files it will remove.  When you're ready to free up space, select Clean now.
Notes:Â
-
You might be able to free up a significant amount of space by turning on the checkbox to delete temporary files and then selecting to delete files in your Recycle Bin.
-
To see what's in your Recycle Bin before you empty it, open it from your desktop. If you don't see the Recycle Bin on your desktop, in the search box on the taskbar, type Recycle Bin, then select it from the results.
