- You are running Windows 7 on a notebook computer.
- Windows starts to enter sleep (S3) or hibernation (S4) mode due to system inactivity or user initiation.
- You close the lid of the notebook before the system has finished transitioning to sleep or hibernation mode.
- Later, you wake the system.
In this scenario, when you open the lid of your notebook, the screen may be blank or dim. If you try to change the screen brightness using the slider in the Control Panel Power Options applet, it has no effect.
