- You log on to a remote computer that is running Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Vista SP2 by using a user account.
- The user account is a member of the Event Log Readers group on the remote computer.
- You open the security event log.
Fix it for meTo fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.
- This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
- If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.
Let me fix it myself
- Open Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
- Locate and then click the following registry keys:
- Right click Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing in the left pane, and then click Permissions….
- Click the Add… button in the permission dialog.
- In the Enter the object names to select box, type Event Log Readers, and then click the Check Names button.
- Click OK to close all dialog windows.
