Add events to a UML model

  1. Select the shape whose events you want to edit. Right-click the shape and select Properties.

  2. In the Properties dialog box, click Events.

  3. Click New, choose the type of event you want to add, and then click OK.

The appropriate event properties dialog box opens.

  4. Type a Name for the event.

  5. Choose the stereotype you want from the drop-down list. If a stereotype you want to use isn't listed, you can add a new stereotype or edit an existing one by clicking Stereotypes on the UML tab of the ribbon.

  6. Type any documentation you want to add to the element as a tagged value. When you select the shape or icon representing the element, the documentation you type here also appears in the Documentation window.

  7. Depending on the type of call you've selected, there may be other properties to complete, as described in this table:

  8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 until you've added all the events you want, and then click OK to close the UML Properties dialog box for the package.

The events you add to a package are available to other appropriate elements, such as action states, contained in the package.
