Use a screen reader to add a survey, poll, or quiz to a Microsoft Stream video

Read out loud symbol with the label Screen reader content. This topic is about using a screen reader with Office

This article is for people with visual impairments who use a screen reader program with the Office products and is part of the Office Accessibility content set. For more general help, see Office Support home.

Use Stream with your keyboard and a screen reader to add a Microsoft Forms survey, poll, or quiz to a Microsoft Stream video. We have tested it with Narrator, JAWS, and NVDA, but it might work with other screen readers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques.

Notes:

  • If you use Narrator with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, you have to turn off scan mode in order to edit documents, spreadsheets, or presentations with Office for the web. For more information, refer to Turn off virtual or browse mode in screen readers in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

  • New Microsoft 365 features are released gradually to Microsoft 365 subscribers, so your app might not have these features yet. To learn how you can get new features faster, join the Office Insider program.

  • To learn more about screen readers, go to How screen readers work with Microsoft Office.

  • When you use Stream, we recommend that you use Microsoft Edge as your web browser. Because Stream runs in your web browser, the keyboard shortcuts are different from those in the desktop program. For example, you’ll use Ctrl+F6 instead of F6 for jumping in and out of the commands. Also, common shortcuts like F1 (Help) and Ctrl+O (Open) apply to the web browser – not Stream.

If you use Chrome or Firefox as your web browser, we recommend that you use JAWS or NVDA as your screen reader.

Add a survey, poll, or quiz to a Microsoft Stream video

You can create surveys, polls, and quizzes in Microsoft Forms and add them to your Stream videos.

  1. Find the Microsoft Forms survey, poll, or quiz you want to add to your video and copy its URL to the clipboard.

  2. In Stream, pen the video you want to add a survey, poll, or quiz to.

  3. Navigate to the point on the video timeline that you want to add the survey, poll, or quiz to.

  4. Press the Tab key until you hear "Add form," and press Enter.

  5. You hear: "Form URL." Paste the URL of the survey, poll, or quiz from the clipboard.

  6. Press the Tab key until you hear: "Name your form." Enter a name for your survey, poll, or quiz.

  7. Press the Tab key until you hear "Add to timeline," and press Enter.
