Performance degrading in System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager

Applies to: System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager

If you have a single server that holds the Data Protection Manager (DPM) databases from several DPM servers, the overload on the servers causes the performance to degrade in Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 DPM.

To fix this issue, set automatic refresh jobs to run every 30 minutes by setting the following registry key:

Registry key path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Configuration
Registry key name: InstallListRefreshIntervalInMinutes
Base: Decimal
Value data: 30

Note If the key doesn’t exist, the default interval is 30 minutes.

Restart information

You may have to restart DPM Service (MSDPM) to apply the registry change.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
