Important: The Microsoft Word Viewer was retired in November, 2017. It is no longer available for download or receive security updates. To continue viewing Word files for free, we recommend installing the Word mobile app or storing documents in OneDrive or Dropbox, where Word Online opens them in your browser.

Known issues with newer versions of Word Files and the Word ViewerEven though the Word Viewer can view the latest Word documents, some features will not work in the Word Viewer. For a list of specific features, see Open a Word 2013 document in an earlier version of Word.
File formats supportedThe Word file formats supported are .doc, .dot, .docx, .docm, .dotx, and .dotm. Macro-enabled files can be opened (.doc, .docm, and .dotm), but the macros do not run.
