If you need to fix your phone, check these easy steps. They may fix the issue and save your time and effort.
1. Restart your phone
If your phone has a removable battery, switch your phone off, take the battery out, put it back in after a few seconds and switch your phone on.
If your battery is not removable, switch the power on and press and hold the power key until the phone vibrates and turns off. Then switch your phone on.
2. Charge your phone
- Plug the charger to a wall outlet.
- Connect the charger to the phone.
- When the phone indicates a full charge, disconnect the charger from the phone then from the wall outlet.
If the battery is completely discharged it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is shown or before you can make any calls.
If the battery has not been used for a long time, you may need to connect the charger then disconnect and reconnect to begin charging.
3. Restore to factory settings
Restore original settings: If your phone is not working properly you can reset some settings to their original values. This does not affect documents or files stored on your phone but we recommend you take a back-up before restoring to factory settings. See instructions in the user manual.
- End all active calls and connections.
- Select: > Settings and Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore.
- If asked, type in the security code.
After restoring the original settings the phone switches off and then on again. This may take longer than usual.
4. Reinstall your software
The Software Recovery Tool can help you to reset and recover your phone software at home, if your phone is not responding, frozen, experiencing software related or software update problems.
Important! Using the Software Recovery Tool will erase all content stored on your phone, including apps and games (along with app data and game progress), text messages, call history, music, photos and more. If possible, you should back up your phone first (Settings > backup). You will be able to restore a backup once the recovery is complete.
Note: The recovery process may take some time depending on your internet connection speed, and you cannot use your phone during the installation. The latest approved version of the software in your phone and model will be installed.
Download and install Nokia Software Recovery Tool to your computer. If possible, make sure that your phone's battery is fully charged.
Connect your phone to your computer with a compatible USB cable. Follow the instructions shown on the tool.
If these steps did not solve your problem, you can seek further assistance from our user forums.
