FIX: Distributed transactions may experience long waits with DTC_STATE wait type in SQL Server

Symptoms


Assume that you use distributedtransactions in Microsoft SQL Server together with MS DTC (Distributed TransactionCoordinator). You may sometimes notice lower throughput and long wait times for the DTC_STATE wait type if there are many concurrent distributedtransactions.

Status


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. 

Resolution


This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
