Consider the following scenario:
- You use the Indexing Service on a computer that is running a 32-bit version of one of the following operating systems:
- Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
- Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)
- Windows Server 2003
Note In this article, this computer is called an Index Server.
- You create a new catalog and then add directories to the catalog.
- On another computer, you use a 64-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server.
- In SQL Server, you create a linked server to the Index Server by using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Indexing Service provider.
- You execute a query against the linked server.
Note This issue typically occurs when the returned recordset is very large.
