A Configuration Manager console that's running on a remote computer stops responding (hangs) for about 20 seconds every 10 minutes.
This issue occurs under the following conditions:
- The administration service isn't enabled.
- HTTPS port 443 on the site server that the console connects to is blocked by a firewall.
The console sends a heartbeat request to the administration service every 10 minutes by connecting to the following URL:
If the administration service isn't enabled, and port 443 is blocked, the connection times out after 20 seconds. During this time, the console stops responding.
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
To work around the issue, set the following registry value on the remote computer:
Value name: HeartbeatInterval
Value type: DWORD
Value data: 1440
Setting this registry value limits the issue to occur no more than one time per day instead of every 10 minutes.
