How to create a Personal Data Keeper (PDK) shortcut on the desktop

SUMMARY

This article describes how to add a Personal Data Keeper (PDK) shortcut on the desktop.


RESOLUTION

1. Right-click the Desktop, click New, and then click Shortcut.


2. Browse out to the PDK.exe file and then click OK.


3. The path will appear like the following:


C:\Microsoft Business Solutions\Great Plains\Personal Data Keeper\PDK.exe


4. Then add the PDK.set to the end of the path so that it now appears like the following:


C:\Microsoft Business Solutions\Great Plains\Personal Data Keeper\PDK.exe PDK.set


5. You may have to add the whole path again when adding the PDK.set file so the whole path might appear like the following:


C:\Microsoft Business Solutions\Great Plains\Personal Data Keeper\PDK.exe


C:\Microsoft Business Solutions\Great Plains\Personal Data Keeper\PDK.set


6. Click Next and then enter a name for the Shortcut. This is the name that will appear under the icon on the Desktop.


7. Click Finish and you will see the new PDK shortcut on the Desktop.
