O365: Access web app error: Object doesn't support this action

Symptoms

In an Access 2013 web app, you receive the following error when you try to open the datasheet view of a table or try to view query results in datasheet view while in Access 2013:

Warning: An error has occurred in the script on this page

Error: Object doesn't support this action

Code: 0

Cause

There is a known issue in Access web apps that is caused by Internet Explorer 8. The OsfRuntimeAccessWAC.js file is incompatible with Internet Explorer 8. 

Resolution

Upgrade your version of Internet Explorer to version 9 or a later version.

More Information

You may see the error in Access 2013 even when Internet Explorer is not your default web browser and you are viewing the Access web app in a different web browser.

See the list of Supported browsers in Office 2013 and Office 365.

You should be aware that Internet Explorer 8 is not listed as a recommended web browser for Office 2013 and Office 365.

You may also notice that no design preview appears for any of your views in the Access client. 

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a new Access web app on a Windows 7 computer with Internet Explorer 8
  2. Create a new table in the Access web app
  3. Save the table.
  4. Right click on the table and select View Data
