Summary

This article describes an improvement in how Microsoft SQL Server handles a configuration-only replica that uses an Always On availability group that has CLUSTER_TYPE = NONE or CLUSTER_TYPE = EXTERNAL values. This improvement enables you to use the CREATE AVAILABILITY GROUP and ALTER AVAILABILITY GROUP DDL statements to set the SESSION_TIMEOUT property for the configuration-only replica.
