Azure & Cloud Products

The Azure & Cloud Products tab shows the usage-based subscriptions (Azure credit) and the license-based subscriptions (such as Office 365) that are provisioned to you, license quantity for each product, the offer type that provisioned that benefit product to you, the benefit type (whether it comes from core, or incremental) and the date of expiry of that benefit.

1

Usage-based subscriptions - Microsoft Azure Credit

There are two types of Usage-based subscriptions that you could receive, depending on the type of offer you have active as an MPN Partner – MAPS, Silver and/or Gold – monthly credit or bulk credit.

You can be provisioned with:

- $100/month (or equivalent in local currency) Azure monthly credit

or/and

- $6000, $12000 or/and $13000/year (or each of them equivalent in local currency) Azure bulk credit

To activate a Microsoft Azure subscription in Partner Center, you should assign the access to a user within the company (including to guest users), that has a user entry created in your Azure Active Directory.

For the $100/month (or equivalent in local currency) Azure monthly credit, you can add new users or remove users from this subscription at any moment in time by clicking on the dropdown sign, in line with the benefit you wish to activate.

For the Azure Bulk (yearly) Credit the remove option is not available in Partner Center, but you can review the Troubleshooting scenarios at the end of this article if you need to transfer the bulk credit to someone else during your enrollment year

Azure Bulk (yearly) Credit subscription can’t be combined with other licensing, prepaid, or credit offers (i.e., Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, Cloud Solution Partner, Azure in Open, Azure Pass, Action Pack, etc.).

License-based subscriptions

In the License-based subscriptions section of the Azure & Cloud Products tab, you will find all your cloud products that require a product key for activation, such as Microsoft O365, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Intune, Azure AD basic, Power BI, etc., which are offered to you depending on the type of offer you have active as an MPN Partner – MAPS, Silver and/or Gold.

To activate the License based subscriptions, click on the dropdown symbol in line with the product of interest and read the instructions on how to redeem these keys. 19

Note:

Each product key provides users with 12 months of service from today. However, if your existing users have an early renewal date, two dates will be averaged out (see Calculation) to make it easier to manage your subscriptions with a single end date for all of your users. No time is added or lost during the calculation.

Calculation:
[A (initial users) x B (time remaining on subscription) ÷ C (new users) x (12 months) ] ÷ total number of users = new time remaining.

Scenario 1:

If you have 100 licenses active on a subscription and you are trying to extend the end date by using a key with 25 licenses, the end date will be extended by 3 months for the subscription with 100 licenses.

Scenario 2:

If you have 100 licenses active on a subscription and you are trying to extend the end date by using a key with 100 licenses, the end date will be extended by 12 months.

Scenario 3:

If you have 5 licenses active on a subscription and you are trying to extend the end date by using a key with 10 licenses, the end date will be extended by 24 months for the subscription with 5 seats.

Scenario 4:

If you are trying to extend the end date by using a key with more than 3x active licenses/seats, following error message would be displayed. This is by design since the subscription end date can be extended by a maximum of 3 years.

20

To reduce the number of licenses on an existing subscription, please contact Office support.

To use the most of your prepaid time, wait to renew your existing subscription until it is close to its end date.

Troubleshooting scenarios

1. Azure Bulk (yearly) credit transfer to a different user in your company

For Microsoft Azure Bulk Credit transfer scenarios, when you wish to transfer the already activated Azure Bulk credit benefit subscription from one user to another in your company (or you have wrongfully associated the benefit to an user in your company), please check if you can access it (see it) from your Azure portal account.

If that is the case, you should raise a support request to the Azure Support team to perform the transfer:

5

If you cannot see your Azure Bulk credit in your Azure Portal account, please contact the MPN Support team.

Azure Bulk Credit offer can’t be combined with other licensing, prepaid, or credit offers (i.e., Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, Cloud Solution Partner, Azure in Open, Azure Pass, Action Pack, etc.).

For any additional details regarding this offer, please access this page.

2. You are trying to activate Dynamics Add-on products and receive error: “You cannot redeem this product key based on the subscriptions you currently have.”

The products impacted by this error message are:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition – Additional Portal
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition – Additional Non-Production Instance
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition – Additional Portal Demo
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition – Additional Non-Production Instance Demo
  • Microsoft Dynamics Employee Self Service

This error appeared due to the incompatibility of these products with the Base SKU, Dynamics 365 – Customer Engagement.

The products have been removed from the MPN Benefits portfolio and deactivated from Partner Center.

Should you need these products further on, please consider obtaining them through alternative paths, such as commercial licenses, Volume Licensing or CSP purchase, based on their availability.

Please note starting April 1st 2019, there were some changes performed to the Common Data Service. More details available below:

Announcement

We are making changes to the Common Data Service to provide a scalable solution that is optimized to store and manage different data types. Effective April 1, 2019 Common Data Service will offer the following data storage options:

  • Common Data Service Database Capacity to store entity definitions and data
  • Common Data Service Log Capacity for user activity and to track data changes
  • Common Data Service File Capacity for file attachments

New Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and PowerApps customers will receive a tenant wide default entitlement for each of these storage types and additional per full user subscription license entitlements. Additional storage can be purchased in 1 GB increments if needed.

In addition to the changes listed above Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement customers no longer need to purchase additional production or non-production environments for Common Data Service. New environments can be created as long as at least 1 GB of database storage is available.

Each environment created, consumes at least 1 GB of database capacity.

How do you create new environments in Common Data Service?

You can create new environments when at least 1 GB of database capacity is available. Click on the link below to learn how to create new environments:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/create-environment

Note: Business Central platform capacity entitlements remain unaltered at this time.

Find more info about the changes by accessing the following link:

https://mbs.microsoft.com/Files/partner/365/PriceOrder/BusinessApplicationsdatabasestorageFAQ.pdf (Please note that this link is accessible only to partners using Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement)

3. How to filter benefits?

There are added filtering capabilities in all of the benefits tabs (Azure & Cloud products, Software products, Visual Studio Subscriptions, Technical benefits and Go-to-Market) that are Benefit type and Offer type . With these filtering capabilities you can:

Choose to see what benefits were provisioned to you by Benefit type (Core/ Incremental).

Choose to see what benefits were provisioned to you by all active offers in your account or by individual offers in your account.

Also, a Search box has been added where the partner can search a specific product.

6

Note: To access, view and manage MPN Benefits, Guest users need to have Global Admin/MPN Partner Admin roles. Please find below the experience in Partner Center for a Guest user with no admin privileges on the tenant.
