FIX: Access violation may occur when you run XML query against a table that has a primary XML index in SQL Server 2016

Applies to: SQL Server 2016 DeveloperSQL Server 2016 EnterpriseSQL Server 2016 Enterprise Core

Assume you have a table with an xml column and you create a primary XML index on the xml column. When you run a query that uses CROSS or OUTER APPLY against the table, an access violation may occur. Dropping the primary XML index willstop access violations from occurring, but may negatively affect performance.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
