You cannot access files in a subdirectory on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device

When the double dot (..) entry of a subdirectory does not match the dot (.) entry of the parent directory on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device, you cannot access files in the subdirectory.

For example, consider the following scenario:
  • You insert a Secure Digital (SD) card into a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device that has the SD card driver installed.
  • You set the double dot (..) entry of a subdirectory in the SD card to 0 even if the parent directory of the subdirectory is not the root directory.

In this scenario, you cannot access the files in the subdirectory of the SD card.

Note This issue does not occur if you insert the SD card into a desktop computer that is running another Windows operating system.

This issue occurs because the file system in the device detects the error and then stops processing the faulty subdirectory. Therefore, you cannot access the files in the subdirectory of the SD card.
