Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
When you create and enable a SQL Server audit on a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the TokenAndPermUserStore cache store continues to grow in size. Additionally, the size does not decrease even when you run the following command, which removes unused cache entries from the TokenAndPermUserStore cache store:
DBCC FREESYSTEMCACHE ('TokenAndPermUserStore')Notes

This issue does not occur if you enable only the C2 audit tracing in SQL Server 2008 R2 or in SQL Server 2008.

You can run the following query to find the size of the TokenAndPermUserStore cache store:
select name,single_pages_kb,multi_pages_kb from sys.dm_os_memory_clerks
where type = 'USERSTORE_TOKENPERM' and single_pages_kb+multi_pages_kb > 8
order by single_pages_kb+multi_pages_kb desc
Cause
This issue occurs because a memory leak occurs when a SQL Server audit is enabled on an object.
Note This memory allocation cannot be freed when you run the DBCC FREESYSTEMCACHE command.
