This article provides additional information about this setting and how it is automatically enabled or disabled in Internet Explorer 5.01 and Internet Explorer 5.5.
After you install Internet Explorer 5.01 or Internet Explorer 5.5, you cannot configure this setting because it is automatically enabled or disabled based on the amount of random access memory (RAM) that is installed in the computer. If the computer has less than 32 megabytes (MBs) of RAM installed, this setting is disabled and all instances of Internet Explorer share the same process. If there is 32 MBs of RAM or more installed on the computer, the setting is enabled, which causes new instances of Internet Explorer to create new processes.
