A query to a large database times out for a troubleshooting report on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based RMS server

Applies to: Windows Server 2008 R2 DatacenterWindows Server 2008 R2 EnterpriseWindows Server 2008 R2 Standard

You run a query in a large SQL database to generate a troubleshooting report by using the Troubleshooting Report Wizard on a rights management service (RMS) server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

In this scenario, the query fails, and you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Timeout expired

This issue occurs because the timeout value for the SQL connection to access a database is too small.

After you install this hotfix, the timeout issue is resolved in the common scenarios.
