Applies to: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition (32-bit x86)Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (32-bit x86)Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (32-bit x86) More

Symptoms

After you enable Hardware Management on a Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 system and setup a subscription to monitor for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IMPI) Hardware Events, you may see one or more events logged with a Description of Invalid SEL.

Cause

Hardware Events will only log records or events from the BMC System Event Log (SEL) and if the LogRecord Class Caption is listed as Other, the event will be listed as Invalid SEL.

For information regarding LogRecord Class, please see the following TechNet article:

Resolution
