FIX: You receive a "Data Abort" exception in the WinInet.dll file when you try to open a second instance of Internet Explorer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You develop a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based OS design for which the SYSGEN_MSFLASH_RAMFMD variable is set to 1.
  • You configure a RAM flash disk, and you mount the disk as the root of the file system.
  • You generate and start the image. Then, you enable network connectivity.
  • You open Windows Internet Explorer to browse a webpage.
In this scenario, you may encounter a "Data Abort" exception in the WinInet.dll file or the iesample.exe file when you perform one of the following operations:
  • You try to open a second instance of Internet Explorer.
  • After you open the second instance of the Internet Explorer, you try to browse to a webpage on the second instance.

Cause

The issue occurs because of an issue in the implementation of memory mapping in the WinInet.dll file.
