Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a transactional publication on an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.

  • You create a subscription that replicates this transactional publication in SQL Server "Denali."

In this scenario, the replication does not work in SQL Server "Denali." Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

'databaseproperty' is not a recognized built-in function name. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 195)
Get help: http://help/195

Note SQL Server "Denali" is version 11.0 of SQL Server.

Cause

This issue occurs because replication uses the DATABASEPROPERTY function that is deprecated in SQL Server "Denali."

This deprecated function is replaced by the DATABASEPROPERTYEX function in SQL Server "Denali."

Note For more information about the DATABASEPROPERTY function, visit the following MSDN website:
