Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You enable Input Method Editor (IME) in a Microsoft Lync 2010 client.

  • You type some words in the Lync search box.

  • You press Enter.

In this scenario, the Enter key does not fix the words. Instead, Lync 2010 client executes a search instruction. Additionally, the search results are displayed according to the words that you typed in the Lync search box.

Note This issue occurs when you use the IMEs for Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

Cause

This issue occurs because the IME message sequence is not handled correctly.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:

2571543 Description of the cumulative update package for Lync 2010: July 2011
