Symptoms

A telephone that is running Microsoft Lync 2010 Phone Edition does not correctly obtain a virtual local area network (VLAN) ID from the network switches by using Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) when the VLAN ID is higher than 512.

Cause

This issue occurs because Lync 2010 Phone Edition only reads 9 bits of the VLAN ID field, which is a 12-bit field. Therefore, the other bits are ignored when the VLAN ID is higher than 512.
