You do not receive a toast notification and a new message indicator of a chat room in an Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat client

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You sign in to a Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat client, and then you join chat room A and chat room B.
  • You click the Actions menu, click Notification…, select the Show alert and the Flash button on the taskbar options, and then you click the OK button.
  • You click the Connect menu, click Preferences…, select the General tab, select Minimize to the notification area option under When closing the main window, and then you click the OK button.
  • You select and focus on chat room A, and then you click the close button to minimize the window.
  • Another user joins chat room A and chat room B, and then sends a broadcast to both chat room A and chat room B.
In this scenario, you only receive the toast notification and the new message indicator for chat room B.

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
