Description of the Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): March 7, 2012

Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated March 7, 2012.

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • The Online Archive feature is enabled in a mailbox on an Exchange server.
    • You open the mailbox and enable the Reading Pane in Outlook 2007.
    • You select an item that is displayed in the Reading Pane and then drag the item to the Deleted Items folder.
In this scenario, the item is moved to the Deleted Items folder in the mailbox instead of to the Deleted Items folder in the corresponding Online Archive mailbox.
  • No search results are returned when you perform a search in a folder in Outlook 2007. This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
    • You do not have Windows Desktop Search installed or enabled on the computer.
    • The folder within which you perform the search contains a voice mail message.
  • Assume that you create a meeting request in Outlook 2007, you add an external recipient in the To field, and then you switch to the Schedule Assistant. In this situation, Outlook 2007 stops responding.
  • Outlook 2007 stops responding when you download a large email message from an IMAP server, when you switch between folders, and when you switch between email messages that are marked as read in the Inbox folder.
  • Assume that a roaming user saves a password for an additional mailbox, such as an Office 365 mailbox, on a client computer. When the user logs on to another client computer and tries to start Outlook 2007, the user is prompted unexpectedly to re-enter the password.
  • You cannot open a hyperlink in an email message when the hyperlink address contains "file://" and the number sign (#) in Outlook 2007. For example, you cannot open a hyperlink if the hyperlink address is "file://server/public/share/te#st".

Note This hotfix does not resolve the issue if the number sign (#) is the last character in the hyperlink address. For example, this hotfix does not resolve the issue if the hyperlink address is "file://server/public/share/test#."
  • Assume that you have hotfix 2544404 installed on a computer. You start Outlook 2007, and then you run a script that contains the GetExplorer method or the Explorers.Add method. In this situation, an additional maximized Windows Internet Explorer window appears.
  • Assume that you have a Form Region section defined for email items in Outlook 2007, and you switch between email messages in the Inbox folder. In this situation, Outlook 2007 crashes.
