A user cannot add a custom location to their contact information by using an application that is developed through the Lync Server 2010 SDK

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 software development kit (SDK) to develop an application. 
  • The contact information of a Lync client user does not include a custom location.
  • The user tries to add a custom location by using the application.
In this scenario, the custom location is not added. Additionally, the user receives a COM exception message together with the following error code:
0x8000ffff
 

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
