Symptoms
Assume that you insert a large-sized image into a slide in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. Then, you type text into another slide. In this situation, it takes a long time to display the text in the slide.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply the following hotfix package:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 -
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.

Type Gfx, and then press Enter.

Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Gfx -
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.

Type Compress8bppIndexedPaletteImages, and then press Enter.

In the Details pane, right-click Compress8bppIndexedPaletteImages, and then click Modify.

In the Value data box, type minimum size for the image width or height, and then click OK.
Note If either the width or the height of an image is larger than this value, the image will be compressed. -
Exit Registry Editor.
