User who has the Full Access permission cannot open another user's mailbox by using Outlook Web App in a mixed Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 environment

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a mixed Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment. The Exchange Server 2007 server has Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 or a later update rollup installed.
  • User A is an Exchange Server 2010 user and user B is an Exchange Server 2007 user in the mixed environment.
  • You grant user A the Full Access permission to user B’s mailbox.
  • User A logs on to his/her own mailbox by using Outlook Web App and then tries to open user B’s mailbox.
In this scenario, user A cannot open user B's mailbox. Additionally, user A receives the following exception:
Url: https://UserOwaLink:443/owa/default.aspx
User host address:  HostAddress
Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.StoragePermanentExceptionException message: Cannot open mailbox /o=OrganizationName/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=Mailbox.

This issue is caused by an unhandled exception that occurs when the connection between Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010 is unsuccessful.

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
