Consider the following scenario:
- You create a global address list (GAL)-related client-only message rule by using Microsoft Outlook in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.
- You experience the issue that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2543850. When this issue occurs, the client-only message rule is not applied.
- To resolve the issue, you apply Update Rollup 1 (RU1) for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (SP2) on the Exchange servers in the environment.
This issue occurs because the fix that is described in KB 2543850 adds a TrueFilter function to LDAP queries that filter a certain property. However, the TrueFilter function that is added to the final LDAP query is invalid. Therefore, an ADFilterException exception is thrown.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
