Links are broken or content is missing when you update a website that is hosted on a computer that is running IIS 7.5

Applies to: Windows 7Windows 7 Service Pack 1Windows Server 2008 R2 More

Symptoms

Assume that you have a website that is hosted on a computer that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5. While the IIS worker process is running, many file changes occur in the virtual directory of the website. For example, you update some webpages on the website. In this situation, some links on the website are broken or some content is missing.

Cause

This issue occurs because of an error in the Nativerd.dll file. IIS uses a buffer to handle file change notifications. If there are too many file changes, the default buffer size is insufficient. Therefore, some file change notifications are lost and the issue occurs.

Resolution
