- You start the Paint application within Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- You attempt to open a very high-resolution image. For example, you attempt to open a JPEG file which is larger than approximately 85 megapixels.
- OR, you select "From scanner or camera" and attempt to import a very high-resolution image. For example, you try to scan a full 8.5"x11" page at a resolution of 1200 dpi.
In this scenario, the image may not open, and you may receive the following error message:
"Paint cannot read this file. This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported."
To work around this issue, use a different program to open or scan the image, or scan the image at a lower resolution.
