Windows Media Player 10 fails to playback content sourced from a Windows Media Services server. You receive the error message, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player does not support the format you are trying to play." Additionally, third party applications that use the same Windows Media components may have similar connection issues.
This problem may occur if the Wmsdkns.xml file is corrupted or the permissions to the Wmsdkns.xml file are incorrect.
Remove the .xml files located in the %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Media\10\ folder.
