Retention policy information does not show "expiration suspended" in Outlook Web App when the mailbox is set to retention hold in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a retention policy tag and add the tag to a retention policy in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.
  • You apply the retention policy to a user’s mailbox.
  • You set the mailbox to retention hold.
  • The user checks the retention policy information by using the Outlook Web App.
In this scenario, the following retention policy information is displayed: 
Retention Policy:  Retention Policy tag Expires: Date

You expect the following retention policy information to be displayed:
Retention Policy:  Retention Policy tag Expires: Expiration Suspended

Cause

This issue occurs because the Outlook Web App does not check whether the user's mailbox is set to retention hold when retention policy information for messages is displayed.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
2785908 Description of Update Rollup 5 version 2 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2

Status
