A flicker or redraw might happen when maximizing Windows Media Player while playing a video

Symptoms


Consider the following scenario:
  • A computer running Windows 7 and above.
  • You play a DVD movie with Windows Media Player.
  • You minimize and then maximize Windows Media Player application.

In this scenario, while the video is playing you may notice a flicker or redraw of the boundary around the Windows Media Player. This issue is mostly evident around the Windows Media Player application controls. When using some another third party video application this issue may not be noticeable.


Cause


The problem is due to the way the controls windows are being sync’d with the one containing the video and is a limitation in Windows Media Player.


More Information


In general this is not a problem with the playing of the video or the operating system. The Windows Media Player still functions and works as expected and is only a only a cosmetic issue of the player.
