Video call or conference is stretched to a 4:3 aspect ratio when you use Lync for Mac 2011


Symptoms


Assume that you create a computer-to-computer video call or conference by using Microsoft Lync for Mac 2011. Additionally, you configure the video to be displayed in a 16:9 aspect ratio. In this scenario, you encounter the following issues:
  • The video is stretched to a 4:3 aspect ratio when you preview it.
  • If a user joins the video call or conference by using Lync for Mac 2011, the video on the user's computer is stretched to a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Cause


This issue occurs because Lync for Mac 2011 incorrectly stretches the incoming video from a 16:9 aspect ratio to a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Resolution


To resolve the issue, install the following cumulative update:
