Description of Hotfix Package 1 for Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0

Applies to: Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0 for Remote Desktop ServicesApplication Virtualization 5.0 for Windows Desktops

This article describes a hotfix package that contains the latest hotfixes for Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0.

Note We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new hotfix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous update package. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains the most necessary hotfixes.

This hotfix package addresses the following issues.

Issue 1
When you try to run Sample Manager on Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0, the program is blocked from reading data from the following path:

%AppData%\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Thermo\SampleManager\9.2.1\Exe

However, Sample Manager can write to this file location. Therefore, because Sample Manager cannot read the server configuration file in the file location, it overwrites the file by using an empty file.
Issue 2
Consider the following scenario:
  • You publish a Version 1 package of Application Virtualization 5.0 on a server.
  • You log on to the client by using an administrator account.
  • You confirm that the Version 1 package of Application Virtualization 5.0 is synched, and then you log off the client.
  • You publish a Version 2 package of Application Virtualization 5.0, and then you remove the Version 1 package of Application Virtualization 5.0.
  • You log on to the client by using a user account.
In this scenario, the Version 2 package of Application Virtualization 5.0 is not published, and the Version 1 package of Application Virtualization 5.0 is not removed. Additionally, the following error is logged in the event log:

When this issue occurs, a user cannot also use an administrator account to perform a manual synchronization by using a UI or Windows PowerShell. The synchronization fails, and the user receives the same error message until the UI or Windows PowerShell is elevated.
