A screen saver is displayed incorrectly if screen is rotated while screen saver is active

Si applica a: Windows 8Windows 8 EnterpriseWindows 8 Enterprise N

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are running Windows 8 on a device or computer that supports auto-rotate of the screen.
  • A standard Windows screen saver is enabled. Examples include 3D Text, Blank, Bubbles, Mystify, Photos or Ribbons.
  • While the screen saver is active, you rotate the device sideways which in turn rotates the screen.

In this scenario, the screen saver may no longer be displayed properly. For example, portions of the desktop may be visible below or to the right of the screen saver.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

To work around this problem, disable the screen saver.

More Information

In order to reduce power usage and maximize battery life, Microsoft does not recommend enabling screen savers on portable devices. Instead, use the Power Options applet in Control Panel to configure the computer to turn off the display after a specified period of inactivity.
