Update is available that changes the NTLM negotiate message in Windows Embedded Compact 7

This article describes an update that changes the NT LAN Manager (NTLM) negotiate message in Windows Embedded Compact 7. After you apply the update, NTLM negotiate messages that Windows Embedded Compact 7 sends comply with the latest technical specifications of NTLM.

More Information

This update fixes the following issue:

Assume that you use a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device as a Server Message Block (SMB) client to connect the device to an SMB share. To do this, the device sends the NEGOTIATE_MESSAGE message, and the DomainNameFields and WorkstationFields fields are not included in the message. In this situation, the Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device cannot connect to the SMB share.
