A blank screen is displayed when you try to use a fingerprint to log on to Windows 8

Symptoms


Assume that you have a Windows 8-based computer that has a fingerprint reader installed and on which the fingerprint option is enabled. You usually use a fingerprint to log on to the computer. However, when you start the computer or unlock the computer, you may encounter one of the following issues: 
  • If you have multiple users on the computer, there is no account tile on the logon screen but only a back arrow. If you click the back arrow and then swipe your finger over the fingerprint reader, the system stops responding. 
  • If you have a single user on the computer, a blank screen is displayed. If swipe your finger over the fingerprint reader, the system stops responding.
