This article explains a problem where it doesn't show the subtitles when you play a Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected video in Microsoft Silverlight.

Symptoms

You're playing a DRM protected video in Silverlight, but it doesn't show the subtitles. Both the video and its subtitles are encrypted with PlayReady or Windows Media Rights Manager 10.

Cause

Silverlight doesn't display DRM protected subtitles.

Subtitling is a synchronized, optional additional format used to deliver text content of an audio stream. Typically, subtitles are displayed through a client-side media player.
