Windows 8 Store Camera App may hang when continuously switching between capturing a video and taking a picture

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer running Windows 8.
  • You are using the Windows 8 Store Camera App to capture a video and/or picture.
  • You take a picture with the picture mode, then switch to the video mode and capture a video.

In this scenario, while continuously switching between taking a picture and capturing a video, the camera app may hang and become unresponsive.

Cause


You may encounter a timing issue that can cause the camera app to hang when switching continuously back and forth between taking a picture and capturing a video. This is a known issue with the Windows 8 Store Camera App.


Resolution


To work around this issue, close and re-launch the Windows 8 Store Camera App.
