How to enable Outlook logging and collect Outlook logs in Office 365 dedicated

This article describes how to enable Microsoft Outlook logging and collect Outlook logs in Office 365 dedicated.

Configure Outlook without an email address to enable logging


  1. Add a new test profile. For help, see Create an Outlook profile. Then, continue with the steps.

  2. Select Cancel at this step:

  3. Select OK.

  4. Select Next.

  5. Select No and then Next:

  6. Select the Use Outlook without an email account check box, and then select Finish.

  7. When Outlook opens, go to Options.

  8. Select Advanced and scroll to the bottom.

  9. Select Enable Troubleshooting Logging, and then select OK.

  10. Exit Outlook and initiate the process to create the desired profile.
  11. Then, collect logs. See what is the Enable logging (troubleshooting) option? to locate the log for your version of Outlook. Provide the log to the support agent as requested.

Outlook connection status


  1. Locate the Outlook icon in the task bar. Hold down Ctrl and right-click the icon. Then, select Connection Status.

  2. Expand all the columns, and then take screen shots of all the information (including scrolling to the right side and capturing those columns).

  3. Provide the screen shots to the support agent as requested.

Autodiscover status


  1. Locate the Outlook icon in the task bar. Hold down Ctrl and right-click the icon. Select Test Email AutoConfiguration.

  2. Enter the email address of the user's mailbox, if that field is not already auto-completed.
  3. Clear the check boxes for Use Guessmart and Secure Guessmart Authentication, and then click Test.After the test is completed, you can see the results in 3 tabs: ResultsLog and XML.
  4. Take screen shots of each tab. You may need to take multiple screen shots of each tab (scroll down) to get all the data.

  5. Provide the screen shots to the support agent as requested.
