Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You log on to two Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computers by using one user account.

  • The Internet Explorer Favorites bar is roamed between the two computers.

  • You start Internet Explorer on both computers.

  • OnĀ one of the computers, Internet Explorer has a bookmarklet on the Favorites bar.

  • You try to delete Favorites items in Internet Explorer on the other computer.

In this scenario, you cannot delete the Favorites items on the computer. Additionally, the position of the bookmarklet on the first computerĀ is moved to the end of the Favorites bar.

Note By default, bookmarklets on the Favorites bar are not roamed.

Cause

This issue occurs because the bookmarklet is excluded from roaming, but the position of the bookmarklet on the Favorites bar is not excluded. Therefore, the computers recognize the bookmarklet as an unsynchronized item and keep synchronizing favorites with each other.
