Lync Server 2013 is detected in an unsupported concurrent coexistence

Symptoms

The System Center Advisor dashboard for Microsoft Lync Server 2013 displays the following warning:

System Center Advisor has detected that this Lync Server 2013 environment has Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013 in coexistence together. This is an unsupported configuration. Please complete the migration steps to avoid any feature loss or interoperability issues within the Lync environment.

Cause

Lync Server 2013 supports a concurrent coexistence with one or the other of the following products. However, Lync Server 2013 does not support a concurrent coexistence with both products.
  • Microsoft Lync Server 2010
  • Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2
Note Migration from Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 or Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 to Lync Server 2013 is not supported.

Resolution

Depending on IT infrastructure requirements, we recommend that you decommission either Lync Server 2010 or Communications Server 2007 R2 or both after you migrate users gracefully.

  • Version 4 corresponds to Communications Server 2007 R2.
  • Version 5 corresponds to Lync Server 2010.
  • Version 6 corresponds to Lync Server 2013.
